My clients usually approach me when they are ready to make a change in their lives. They are experiencing conflicts, inside themselves or with others, and are looking for an empathic, flexible and dynamic clinician to provide support and guidance. Hello, I am Dr. Keisha C. White, a Clinical and School Psychologist in private practice (virtual/telehealth therapy) at KCW Psychological Services and MLH Psychology. My work has focused on helping individuals with anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships (family, platonic, romantic), work-life balance, life transitions, special-education assessment, Individual Education Plans (IEP), and fostercare/adoption/transracial adoption therapy. I earned my Bachelor Degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey, double majoring in Dance and Psychology. I trained as a psychologist in New Jersey, New York City, and California. I completed an APA accredited internship at Pacific Clinics and Post Doctoral Fellowship at both Harbor UCLA Medical Center and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. I have worked in hospital (inpatient and residential), college psychological services, outpatient clinics, as well as, community, school, and home-based settings. As an African American woman growing up in multicultural and ethnically diverse communities, I understand the interrelated impact of diverse cultures, individual differences, and environmental contexts on the development and worldviews of individuals. I recognize the importance yet challenges with having multifaceted identities (e.g., race, age, sexual identity, religion, socio-economic status, education, personal interests…etc) and remaining “true to self,” while engaging in mainstream culture. With this knowledge, I continue to instill in my clients (as well as myself) the importance of maintaining mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health and wellness practices, as well as, feelings of HOPE, self-acceptance, and the understanding that the experiences I have had and the choices I have made are not finite and do not solely define my identity. My clients and I are both “agents of change,” constantly progressing, and continuously developing through this journey called life. I am focused on facilitating hope and healing through mental health and wellness practices for my clients, as well as underrepresented groups in the mental health space. I connect with my clients through my personal experiences, and utilize my professional training and creativity to assist my clients with developing and implementing individualized effective strategies to address their challenges. "I am you, I see you, I care” I provide therapy services to residents of CA, NY, NJ, MA, and CT Please email (kcwhite@kcwpsychologicalservices.com) me or call me (323-207-5454) to schedule a free consultation session. Many of the students I work with feel overwhelmed by their thoughts, anxious about the future, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break. Some deal with intrusive thoughts, constant worry, or panic that gets in the way of school, relationships, or sleep. Others are coping with past experiences, burnout, or the pressure to “keep it all together.” I offer a space where you don’t have to pretend you’re fine. Together, we slow things down, understand what’s happening in your mind and body, and build tools that help you feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life.
A willingness to seek support is a sign of strength. As an empathic and experienced professional, I provide support with compassion and understanding. I work to help you achieve your personal, relational, and professional goals through a strength-based approach using CBT and EFT. To further support you, I have additional training in Gottman’s Couples Therapy (Levels I & II) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. I am also a certified grief informed professional and certified in EMDR.

ADHD is more than just "having difficulty focusing," and no, not "everyone has a little bit of ADHD" as many people claim nowadays. The impact of ADHD is pervasive and can keep you from reaching your goals, connecting with others, maintaining a routine despite knowing that it would be helpful, and constantly "masking" for fear that you will not be accepted as you are. Life administrative tasks feel daunting and get postponed repeatedly, and the negative self-talk that ensues as a result takes a further toll and increases avoidance. I can help you understand the brain science of ADHD, incorporate aspects of mindfulness, somatic work, and other modalities to overcome these challenges, and regain your mental energy. You'll learn to work with your neurodivergence, NOT against it. I work from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, lens and am mindful about how culture, immigration journeys and systemic racism play a role in how someone compensates for their ADHD.
I’m an Associate Clinical Social Worker currently practicing in Los Angeles. I am able to work with clients in California and Connecticut. I have had the privilege of working with teens, adults, parents and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and beyond. My heart lies in providing care that's not just effective, but deeply compassionate. As a mother of two and experience working in residential treatment for adolescents, I have experienced firsthand the challenges that parents face from pregnancy, toddlerhood, and adolescence. My priority is to create a safe space for exploration and growth by making you feel seen, heard, and understood. Through the use of empathy, non-judgement, compassion, and curiosity, I support my clients in exploring challenges, patterns, and transitions in their lives allowing them to gain a deeper awareness of who they are and who they strive to be. Collaboratively identifying goals with my clients allows for a personalized approach tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. Together we will explore and address underlying sources of distress, practicing mindfulness and self-compassion, and fostering healthy connections and boundaries in relationships. I am passionate about empowering my clients to take proactive steps toward enhancing their well-being and achieving greater fulfillment in their lives.
As a young therapist, I bring both professional expertise and personal insight into the intricate dynamics of college life. Having navigated the complexities of college myself, I comprehend the intricate tapestry of pressures, relationship dynamics, substance use concerns, and the myriad challenges that accompany this transformative period. I'm not just a therapist; I'm a compassionate guide committed to your well-being. I’ve been through the complexities of college life and I understand the pressures, relationship dynamics, potential substance use concerns and the different challenges that come with this transformative period in your life. From the outside looking in, parents don’t always understand the challenges that come with college life, and I want to be that supportive other to help you get through it. Therapy is a sacred space and my focus is helping you get to the root cause of your struggles. I find that healthy relationships are the key for psychological, physical, and spiritual health. I provide awareness into your behaviors, and the ability to see the underlying issues of why you're unsatisfied with your life. If you're having difficulty regulating your emotions when it comes to romantic relationships, or feel that you find yourself in the same relationship again and again, then you have come to the right place. I will help you get to the core of these issues, and find yourself content with your personal relationships. I create space and offer insight into your behaviors, and together, will teach you about repetition compulsion. You will feel that you have control of your emotions, over codependency, and be free of addictive behaviors. You can heal. I am not the type of therapist that will sit back and just listen, I truly want to help you turn over your pain and be free. I offer a strong, empathetic approach, and teach my clients how to feel confident within themselves. You will receive guidance from me. We will be engaging in dialogue. I am direct but compassionate, and want to teach you how to be direct and vulnerable too. You will leave each session gaining insight into your behaviors. You will challenged and supported.

I approach therapy from a humanist and relational orientation that focuses on your individual strengths. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner practicing in San Diego and through telehealth in the state of California. My approach to mental health involves the whole person, and we work together to focus on all aspects of life and health–emotional, social, and physical. In addition to training in psychiatric care, my background in social work, perinatal health, and sexuality education enriches my perspective and the care I provide. We will address lifestyle factors (sleep, exercise, diet, etc.) that, in addition to medication and therapy, impact a person’s overall well-being and mental health. I develop collaborative treatment plans with you and treat a broad range of conditions, with a particular interest in anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health, ADHD, PTSD, and affirmative mental healthcare for gender-expansive and trans folks.
My training is in both medical and clinical mental health settings where I have gained an expertise in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep concerns and insomnia, chronic pain and other chronic illness adjustment difficulties. I also have a passion for working with mothers and women who are pregnant or postpartum and are looking for support through these critical life stages.
Here at Rachel Wakeford Therapy, I realize that no two people are the same, and tailor my therapy to meet your specific needs as an individual. Many of the students I work best with seem like they’re keeping up on the outside, but inside feel anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out. You might be juggling academic pressure, relationships, or big life decisions while feeling stuck or unsure of how to move forward. Many have tried to push through or talk things out, but still feel caught in the same patterns. If you’re looking to better understand yourself and feel more balanced, supported, and grounded, we may be a good fit.
If you want to learn skills to cope with anxiety and depression, then this is the place for you. I specialize in supporting young adults navigate the complex layers of generational trauma. I use a client-center approach and when appropriate, we’ll incorporate holistic practices or collaborate with other health professionals like doctors and nutritionists. By integrating therapeutic techniques, I aim to help balance the weight of your cultural heritage with the demands of a new world; honoring your past while building your future.
