Hello, I'm Dr. Manuel Manotas, a licensed psychologist offering online therapy services across California. Fluent in English and Spanish, I'm dedicated to providing accessible and personalized mental health support from the coast to the Sierras. I specialize in helping clients who are navigating the often turbulent waters of anxiety and healing from past trauma. We all know that these issues can feel overwhelming, like an endless loop of thoughts such as "I'm not good enough," "Happiness only comes with wealth," or "My imperfections make me unlikable." But remember, you're not alone on this journey. Together, we'll face these thought patterns, unravel their origins, and discover hands-on techniques to manage anxiety. Our journey isn't about amplifying self-doubt, but uncovering the strength that exists in embracing our vulnerabilities. A unique feature of my approach is Somatic Psychotherapy, which recognizes that our minds and bodies are intrinsically linked. I'll guide you to connect with your physical responses to emotional states, teaching you effective practices like deep breathing and visualization to channel your body's energy in a healthier way. I hold a PsyD from the California Institute of Integral Studies and am certified by the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. This combination of experience and education equips me to support you effectively as you strive to overcome anxiety and heal from trauma. Together, we'll embark on a journey towards a more peaceful and resilient self.
I work with children, teens, and adults, using a specialized blend of behavior principles into my therapeutic practice. I started my career in special education as a behaviorist for children with autism and later worked as a school counselor for middle school students in East Los Angeles. I earned my BCBA in 2020 and my LCSW in 2021, allowing me to integrate behavior management techniques into my mental health practice. I love being able to work with clients from both a behavioral and mental health perspective, allowing space for big behaviors and big feelings to coexist and be processed together. I'm here to help! I am directive yet empathetic and allow clients to tailor their therapeutic plan to meet their needs and goals. Please don't hesitate to reach out for a consultation to see if we might be a good fit. Email for clinical supervision rates (individual, triadic, group).
Are you feeling lost or disconnected from yourself or the world around you? Is everything changing and you don’t know where to find stability? Are you struggling to cope with your past and want to get back to who you truly are and what lights you up? I support women of all ages and young adults who are experiencing some kind of life transition, healing from trauma, or grieving a loss. So often we feel lost trying to cope with this wild ride we call life, but you are not alone. I work from a trauma informed and nature based perspective to help you deeply connect with the person you want to be. Together we can heal the past and shift the inner criticism that may be holding you back from living fully & confidently.
I work best with college students who are starting to notice how perfectionism, people-pleasing, or pressure to achieve affects their mental health. Many grew up feeling like they had to be “the strong one” or keep the peace at home, and now those same patterns show up in school, relationships, or self-worth. They’re ready to understand themselves better, heal from the past, and feel more grounded in who they are.
Developmental trauma (experiences as we grow, including our family of origin) shapes how we see the world, sometimes unsafe and challenging to navigate. Our attachments are the foundations in which we trust or find conflict. Developmental trauma may manifest in the body as anxiety, stress, distress, relationship difficulties, depression and more. There is healing to be found here, to be understood and nourished. Well done on the first step in a journey toward wellness. The most important aspect of therapy is finding a person who makes you feel safe and heard. I look forward to collaborating. I have training and experience in working with trauma, family of origin/generational cycles, attachment disruptions, complicated grief and loss, sexuality, sex work and with LGBTQAI+ persons. I love working through emotions, trauma and somatic experiencing. I am Level I Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy trained. I enjoy working with and understanding folx from their perspective; I work with singles, couples, non-monogamous consensual relationships and families. I provide a safe, unassuming space in which you can find felt safety. I appreciate the eclectic person you are and would like to help you identify your own cracks, so that you can let your own light in. Welcome—I’m Targol. I support students, young adults, and emerging professionals who are navigating one of life’s most uncertain and transformative chapters. You might feel caught between who you’ve been and who you’re becoming—managing school, work, relationships, family expectations, identity, or just trying to make sense of it all. On the outside, it may look like you’ve got things under control, but inside, you could be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of your next steps. If you’ve ever thought, “I should have this figured out by now” or “Why does everyone else seem to have it together but me?”—you’re in good company. Many of my clients share those same thoughts. In our work together, we’ll create a space where you can show up just as you are—without pressure or performance—so you can begin to feel more grounded, connected, and empowered in your life. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally sensitive—I show up with curiosity, not judgment, and tailor our work to reflect your unique values, strengths, and needs. Therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating. It can feel like a deep exhale. We’ll figure things out—together.

I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist with over 30 years of experience. I have worked with students since the 1990s in a variety of settings and most recently was the director of the Stanford student mental health program (2008-2017) then on staff (2017-2022). I treat a variety of conditions from anxiety and depression to ADHD and bipolar disorder. I also practice intensive short term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP).
I specializes in providing individual and family therapy services. I offers a supportive and empathetic environment to help clients navigate through life's challenges and improve their mental well-being. I enjoy working with young adults as they learn and gain their understanding on their journey.
I very much enjoy working with college students in helping them navigate this time of transition from home to independent adulthood. Many college students I work with experience anxiety, chronic worrying, overwhelm, perfectionism, self-criticism, social anxiety, low self-esteem, distractibility, relationship issues, depression, academic struggles, feeling lost or unsure of their career path, and other obstacles that get in the way of reaching their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. However, many students I work with find that these obstacles to be growth opportunities to develop greater self-awareness, inner alignment, and transformation that can lead to a more fulfilling, effective, and satisfying experiences in college and thereafter. Although this time in life can bring forth challenges that may seem insurmountable at times, I have generally experienced college students to be very insightful, bright, and resilient, and because of this, I delight in working with them! In addition to psychotherapy, I specialize in providing testing and assessments. Some college students often come to me because they have been diagnosed with a learning difference or ADHD in the past and they need an updated evaluation. Other college students come to me because they suspect they may have an undiagnosed learning difference or ADHD. Because of this, they would like to better understand their learning profile, including strengths and weaknesses, in order to receive the best support, such as specialized tutoring, executive functioning coaching, and accommodations on tests and assignments. I have been providing different types of assessments for several decades and in various contexts, and many students currently come to me from UCSF's dyslexia center, where I am listed as a referral: https://dyslexia.ucsf.edu/resources. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions regarding therapy or assessments. I am happy to provide you a free 30-mintue phone consultation!
We’re here to help anyone struggling with mental health to accelerate the healing process through music. Our founder Marlys Woods spent years using music to identify her emotions, but as she learned more about therapy, she realized that the one thing she relied on most to help her, was also keeping her stuck in unproductive, negative emotional states. Our mission is to teach everyone struggling with mental health how to stop using this powerful tool on a surface level, and start using music to create healthy life changes. We're working towards a society where we all know how to feel and face emotions and get to a place of freedom.
