Therapists for college students near San Francisco State University
I have had the privilege of working on school campuses and enjoy supporting students as they navigate family challenges, cultural identity, life transitions, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and relationship concerns. Balancing academics, work, and personal life can often feel overwhelming. Therapy offers a space to slow down, organize your thoughts, and gain clarity about what matters most to you. My goal is to create a supportive and reflective environment where we can explore your experiences together and move toward the goals you have for your life. I believe that living authentically brings deeper meaning and purpose, and I would be honored to support you in discovering what that looks like for you.
Paper Cranes Counseling aims to reduce anxiety and depression by strengthening your sense of self and helping you foster fulfillment in your significant relationships.
Dr. Dani is passionate about helping individuals who are navigating stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, ADHD, identity, trauma, relationship challenges, and substance use. One of Dr. Dani’s greatest passions is to help individuals develop confidence within themselves, so they can communicate their emotions and ask for support effectively. Dr. Dani strives to provide a safe environment for individuals to express what is on their minds, learn invaluable coping skills, understand the mind-body connection and address relationship issues to build a sense of connection with themselves and others. She creates an understanding and empowering environment by using humor and gentle yet direct challenges. She welcomes feedback from individuals to maintain a collaborative approach. Dr. Dani approaches working with individuals in an empathic and nonjudgmental manner. She strongly feels that to help people, you must look at the entirety of a person and integrate all different aspects of their lives
Therapy offers a confidential place of refuge where you can be seen and heard. Together we will explore how daily external pressures and feelings of self-blame, self-criticism, fear or sadness, as well as loss and past trauma, may be affecting your ability to move forward or express yourself in an authentic way. By devoting time and attention to understanding your unique story and the ways in which past relationships shape current ones, you can gain greater self-awareness and an understanding of how underlying feelings and thoughts are affecting your mood. In building a strong, supportive relationship I will help you uncover core issues. I primarily use a psychodynamic, creative approach to guide my clients towards greater self-compassion and clarity that will allow you to feel more confident in your ability to change and heal.

We all come into therapy for our own reasons. Whatever may have brought you into the room, you will find a compassion based space for growth, self discovery and inner work. Therapy is a collaborative act, where we can explore both who you are and why. I utilize a non-oppressive and non-judgmental approach. I see the therapeutic relationship as a microcosm of your relationships in other areas. We will discuss the therapeutic relationship, examine rupture, and identify patterns in the therapeutic space. I am engaging, intuitive and open to discuss the latest episode of Love is Blind or True Detective.

As a proud Latina and former teen mom, I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to the therapeutic space. I’m deeply passionate about mental health and the power of healing through connection, understanding, and culturally sensitive care. I specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, sexual violence, anxiety, and depression. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in empathy and empowerment. I believe every person deserves to feel heard, safe, and supported especially in their most vulnerable moments. In our work together, I aim to create a space where you can begin to unlearn shame, process pain, and rebuild your sense of self with compassion and strength. Healing is not linear, but you don’t have to go through it alone.

Developmental trauma (experiences as we grow, including our family of origin) shapes how we see the world, sometimes unsafe and challenging to navigate. Our attachments are the foundations in which we trust or find conflict. Developmental trauma may manifest in the body as anxiety, stress, distress, relationship difficulties, depression and more. There is healing to be found here, to be understood and nourished. Well done on the first step in a journey toward wellness. The most important aspect of therapy is finding a person who makes you feel safe and heard. I look forward to collaborating. I have training and experience in working with trauma, family of origin/generational cycles, attachment disruptions, complicated grief and loss, sexuality, sex work and with LGBTQAI+ persons. I love working through emotions, trauma and somatic experiencing. I am Level I Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy trained. I enjoy working with and understanding folx from their perspective; I work with singles, couples, non-monogamous consensual relationships and families. I provide a safe, unassuming space in which you can find felt safety. I appreciate the eclectic person you are and would like to help you identify your own cracks, so that you can let your own light in. We grieve any time life changes directions, and even positive changes can bring about difficult feelings. You may be struggling with the death of a loved one, demands of school or work, adjusting to a new relationship, or considering the next chapters of your life. With experience in oncology, young adult parental loss, anticipatory loss, and sudden death, I provide you with support, insights, treatment, education, and guidance during times of transition and beyond. While some clients make the choice to pursue working with a therapist because of a specific life event or situation, others make the choice because of a desire for self-growth and a general improvement in well-being. Regardless of your reason, I welcome you to contact me. It's not easy to seek support. I'm easy-going, approachable, and genuinely want you to feel better. Send me a message and we can figure out how to make that happen.
