Having over 20 years of experience, I specialize in guiding and supporting individuals as they navigate complex relationship issues. Many are family members who have loved ones that struggle with addiction. I help people resolve unhealed emotions and break patterns they’ve been stuck in so they can grow in setting limits, building confidence, and feeling better.
Hello, I'm Elissa. Life can be challenging, and managing relationships can sometimes feel overwhelming. But you don't have to face these difficulties alone. Feelings of loneliness, loss of purpose, distance from loved ones, and grief over lost loved ones or unfulfilled dreams are common experiences. In children, behaviors often signal underlying struggles they are facing. I utilize a client-centered, solution-focused approach, incorporating techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. For children, I also employ play therapy, which has proven effective in addressing their unique needs. These methods help you develop new tools for your 'Life Tool Box,' empowering you to navigate life's challenges more effectively. I hold a Master's degree (MA) and am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. My areas of specialization include family relationships, children's mental and behavioral health, anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, and trauma. With my experience and expertise, I aim to create a supportive and understanding environment where you can feel heard and validated. Working with me means embarking on a journey towards healing and growth. Whether through telehealth or in-person sessions at my Alamosa office, I am here to support you every step of the way. If you are ready to move forward, please reach out to set up an appointment. Together, we can work towards a brighter, more fulfilling future.

My approach is integrative and personalized, meeting you exactly where you are. Are you committed to making changes but aren't sure where to start? Taking that first step can be difficult. Let's do it together. For couples looking to process, heal and enhance communication. I have experience with restorative justice and offer support in conflict dialogue between family, friends and colleagues. As a therapist I create a safe, trauma-informed space with validation, honesty and incorporating gentle humor. With a decade+ working with folx with marginalized identities, young adults who have witnessed trauma, people who have experienced crime, (esp relationship and sexual violence) I understand the systems, agencies and how to connect you. I incorporate several modalities to heal symptoms of trauma. You are dynamic, and your therapy should be too! If you are struggling with mental health concerns, please know you are not alone. I see Colorado clients virtually and in-person in Denver. I would love to be part of your therapeutic and healing journey.

I'm Amanda MacLeod, PA-C, a board-certified physician assistant who treats patients with a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, depression, and other mood disorders, with additional clinical interests in treatment-resistant conditions, complex trauma, and behavioral concerns. Guided by a belief in patient and community advocacy, I provide compassionate care while inspiring active change through shared decision-making. I emphasize a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, integrating holistic internal medicine, patient education, medication management, and preventative care to support and sustain overall health and well-being. Specializing in psychopharmacology and psychodynamic therapy, I also have experience with advanced treatment modalities, including pharmacogenetic testing and psychiatric evaluations. Originally from Kansas, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biochemistry from the University of Kansas, I pursued my post-graduate education in Arizona. There, I earned my M.M.Sc. in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University before eventually settling in Denver, Colorado, with my husband and two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – Eevee and Peach. I appreciate being closer to family and exploring the natural beauty of Colorado. In my free time, I enjoy music, concerts, sports, reading, anime/manga, crafting, cozy hobbies, and, of course, binge-watching TV shows/movies.
I welcome individuals from all backgrounds. I prioritize working with any and all women, girls, members of the Queer and Trans communities, and expecting parents, ages 15+. As a cisgender white woman I am aware of the privileges I hold and I honor the perspectives, backgrounds, and lived experiences of my clients. I believe in a collaborative therapeutic process and therefore will ask for your input in goal-setting and treatment planning conversations. I will at times offer clinical guidance, but not before hearing what it is you are seeking and hoping to gain from your therapy experience. My work is trauma-informed, person-centered, and strengths-based, aimed at co-creating strong therapeutic rapport. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Mindfulness and Grounding, and Therapeutic Art. Through each of these interventions, I aim to strengthen and empower your voice and provide a safe space to be who you are, without judgment and without expectation.
How are you handling your life right now? Life can feel overwhelming creating stress, anxiety, fear, and doubt, and leaving us feeling paralyzed and stuck. Transitioning to college, and life after college can really take a minute. As we adjust to new seasons of life, there tends to be a period of the unknown with mixed emotions. Life transitions need life skills. I work with you like we are in a partnership to navigate through the past wounds into a healthier, more stable, and confident future.
Life rarely moves in a straight path, and the transitions, pressures, and losses that come with it can leave you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself. As a clinical social worker and therapist, helping people navigate the challenges that arise throughout adulthood is work I find deeply meaningful. Whether you're managing the weight of a major life change, working through strained relationships, struggling with work-life balance, facing caregiver stress, or searching for a renewed sense of purpose, you don't have to navigate it alone. These experiences can stir up anxiety, sadness, frustration, guilt, isolation, or hopelessness, and that's exactly where meaningful support can make a difference. Together, we work to transform those challenges into opportunities for growth and a more fulfilling, joyful life. At the heart of effective therapy is a strong, trusting relationship, and building that with you is my first priority. Empathy, authenticity, and genuine connection are not just values I hold; they are the foundation of how I show up for every person I work with, because you deserve a space where you feel truly heard and respected, and where open, honest dialogue is always welcomed. As we work together, I draw from evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs, preferences, and goals. That might look like broadening perspective, building resilience, practicing self-compassion, or challenging the thoughts that keep you feeling small. Whatever your path forward looks like, my aim is to be a supportive partner dedicated to your healing journey as you reclaim your sense of agency, practice self-compassion, and deepen your connection to yourself and others. My path to becoming a therapist began with a feeling of restlessness after a trial run at retirement. Reflecting on my life, I realized there was still more to give, just as so many had given to me along the way. Throughout my own journey, the attentive listening and encouragement of others kept me hopeful during fearful and uncertain times. Phrases like "this too shall pass," "one day at a time," “don’t borrow worry,” and "to thine own self be true" became anchors when doubt and insecurity crept in. Those experiences shaped my deep belief in the power of being truly heard. Before this chapter, I spent my career in management and leadership roles at innovative medical device companies, guiding diverse teams through change and helping develop products that improved patient access and outcomes. That work taught me the enduring importance of empathy, trusted communication, and adaptability. Those same qualities now live at the center of my therapeutic practice. In my free time, you'll most likely find me soaking up the Colorado sun with family and friends, hiking, skiing, traveling, or simply following wherever curiosity leads

Therapy shouldn’t feel like a clinical interrogation. After seven years working with young people inside Colorado schools, I know that just opening up to someone new takes incredible guts. Because effective therapy relies on a strong therapeutic alliance, I prioritize tailored human connection over rigid assessment & clinical stuffiness, laying the groundwork for us to work as true partners in the process.
