Therapists for college students near Georgia State University
I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in adolescence and young adulthood. I completed a fellowship at Mclean Hospital in Adolescent Mental Health. I was previously a psychologist at Mclean Hospital's Klarman Eating Disorders Center where I specialized in the care of individuals struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and associated concerns. I enjoy working collaboratively with a client, couple, or family to understand how someone's struggles relate to their larger goals, hopes, and motivations and how to work to understand their experiences together and move closer to those goals. I use approaches to therapy that focus on understanding the role and functions of emotions and behaviors, understanding someone's experience in the context of relationships, and utilizing strengths and competencies in the therapy process. In addition to individual therapy, I have a passion for working with couples, families, and in relationship based therapies. I also provide parent consultation for parents supporting their child or adult child through an eating disorder. Please reach out if you have any questions and would like to schedule a complementary initial phone consultation.
Are you struggling with sadness, motherhood stress, anger, relationships, or family? Are you feeling emotionally drained? Or maybe you and/or your child is having behavioral challenges, racial identity issues/trauma, or a hard time adjusting to a relocation, divorce or separation, or other change(s) in their life? We help rebuild and reunify individuals and families by teaching coping skills and better communication skills to children ages 3-18, adults, and families. We use different therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of our clients and achieve results. We help children and adults learn how to understand, control, and share their emotions appropriately, and make better choices. In addition to talk therapy with adults and adolescents, we also use play therapy with children who have a hard time appropriately expressing their feelings and experiences. We specialize in family therapy, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, race, ethnicity, and cultural identity issues/trauma, working with children and adolescents with behavioral challenges, and parenting. We provide clients with a safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental environment, to openly talk about their thoughts and feelings. We take an open-minded approach to client wellness and consider the client's work life, family traditions, cultural, and spiritual beliefs. We provide support for developing a new way of seeing and moving through life.

My goal as a therapist is to support you during difficult life transitions. These transitions may include starting college, searching for jobs, adjusting to roommates, and exploring gender and sexuality for yourself. Transitions and changes may evoke a sense of grief and loss, regardless if it's positive, negative, or neutral. As a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist, I can help you with the difficult emotions that are associated with these changes. Our sessions would focus on finding the root of your symptoms, processing your grief, and starting your healing journey. Although my specialty is grief and loss, I address a wide variety of concerns, including emotional regulation, managing anxiety and depression, healing from childhood trauma, and increasing resilience. Often, our symptoms can be traced back to the losses and trauma experienced in our lives. I often utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy to treat these symptoms as well. Healing begins with understanding - and you don’t have to do it on your own. My approach to therapy is rooted in helping you gently explore who you are and how you move through the world. Together, we’ll work to loosen the grip of fear and shame so you can reclaim your story with compassion and confidence. In our work, I’ll support you in recognizing patterns that no longer serve you and help you in shifting them to create space for growth and healing. We will work to strengthen self-trust, improve emotional regulation, and develop a clearer sense of identity. It is incredibly important to have a space where you can just be you. My hope is to provide a comfortable place to talk and process life events, to celebrate successes and to navigate through challenges. There are so many different areas of life that are important, and balancing them all, while finding time to process it all can be challenging. Sometimes dealing with family relationships while away at school can be hard, especially when they are changing and shifting. At times, learning to navigate anxiety and expectations for school and peers can be overwhelming. Figuring out how to balance it all can be a big task. My goal is to support and help you find ways to grow and learn, and navigate these times so that you can be and become who you want to be.

Many of my clients have ADHD, Autism, OCD, Anxiety, or Depression. I am direct and solution-focused, so we'll get to the root of your unhelpful habits/patterns and figure out a game plan on how to move forward. I also do offer a sliding scale (therapy for cheaper rates) as college is already expensive enough! If you're ready to stop feeling like you're just getting through your day, reach out today. Evening & Saturday options available.

I understand that deciding to start therapy can be difficult. At one point in my life, I was faced with that same decision. Often, the hardest part of therapy is looking in the mirror and confronting the experiences and choices that brought you to this moment. It takes courage to acknowledge your feelings and commit to making a change for yourself. My therapeutic style is client-centered, rooted in the belief that genuine, collaborative relationships form the cornerstone of meaningful healing and growth. This integrative framework allows me to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs, fostering self-awareness, resilience, and lasting change. You can expect their first session with me to be warm, exploratory, unveiling, and empowering, a mix of thoughtful reflection, practical goal-setting, and gentle curiosity about what’s driving current challenges and how to create positive change.
