Life can be downright hard. Trying to juggle everything life is throwing at you. Perhaps you want more clarity in life or want to find a new direction. You may feel stuck and having a hard time moving forward. It can be exhausting trying to muster up the energy to get out of bed and take care of your responsibilities and yourself. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), I specialize in providing highly tailored therapeutic support and executive functioning coaching exclusively to college students at Indiana University and around the country. I understand that guiding a young adult through the collegiate transition from afar can be incredibly stressful for families. Through our bespoke consulting packages, we ensure students thrive both academically and personally, without falling through the cracks of large university systems. Specialized Therapeutic & Executive Function Support I provide focused, high-touch support tailored to the unique academic and personal demands of the college years, including: Executive Functioning & Motivation: Installing robust weekly schedules, study rules, and workflows to combat paralysis and build self-driven habits. Why Families Choose Our Practice Bespoke Support Tiers: From targeted Individual Counseling, theSemester Launch setups or my 12-month Semester Concierge engagements, we provide the exact level of intervention your family requires. Executive-Level Advisory: We act as a "family office" for your students well-being, providing parents with regular status briefs and clear guidance on what to monitor versus what to ignore. Proactive Risk Containment: We do not wait for a crisis. We install systems, monitor academic progress, and coordinate a proactive strategy to ensure consistency and long-term independence. Recognized Authority: As the author of The Insiders Guide to Parenting and The Insider's Guide to College, and host of The Better Semester podcast, my frameworks are grounded in nearly 25 years of specialized clinical experience. Hi, I’m Rithy (pronounced as ‘Rit-Tea’). As an openly proud gay man and a first- generation Asian American (Cambodian & Hmong), I deeply recognize how mental health is woven into our identity, culture, and sense of belonging. My own journey has shown me how identity can sometimes act as a barrier to accessing therapy, whether due to stigma, cultural expectations, or a lack of representation in the field. My passion for mental wellness is rooted in the belief that people are the experts in themselves, and therapy should honor their wisdom, strengths, and lived experiences. With over six years of experience in health and human services, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, Autistic and otherwise neurodivergent individuals, and people from diverse socioeconomic, educational, and intersectional identities. I help clients navigate stress, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Above all, I’m committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and affirming space where people can show up fully as themselves. My intention is to meet you where you are in your mental wellness journey and build on your strengths. Together, we will create meaningful change at a pace and capacity that feels right for you. I believe healing happens in a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and valued. With that in mind, I take a holistic, person-centered approach, promoting an affirming and supportive atmosphere-especially for those exploring LGBTOIA+ identity, relationships, anxiety, and life transitions. I tailor therapy sessions to your unique needs, using modalities like Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness, and Psychoeducation. I also use the Gottman Method to help couples strengthen their connection, improve communication, and navigate conflict with compassion. My approach is affirming and tailored to honor the unique dynamics and identities within each relationship
Central to my client care philosophy is the belief in providing a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and challenges. Each client interaction is approached with sensitivity, respect, and a genuine desire to understand their unique needs and experiences. By building a strong therapeutic alliance, I collaborate with clients to develop tailored treatment plans that address their specific concerns and work towards meaningful and sustainable growth. With college students schedule, it is easy to squeeze in sessions with me. I offer Telehealth sessions at different times to accomodate and make accessing services easier.
I enjoy collaborating in the therapeutic process, partnering with individuals who are seeking guidance in pursuing wellness and healing. My goal is to create a space for ALL people to feel welcomed and celebrated, and where individuals can work to improve their quality of life. I am a compassionate listener, and I use a Strengths-Based Approach and Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help people find wholeness and continue the process of healing. I am honored to walk alongside clients in their journey toward truth and understanding. When I am not in the office, I enjoy the peace of nature and the encouragement that comes from spending time with loved ones.

I am constantly inspired by people who have the strength, courage, and motivation to open themselves to a shift in perspective. Those who take a fresh look at the things impacting their lives. My role is to listen, empathize, challenge, and offer suggestions or alternatives to help you build a more robust set of tools to assist in your journey. Through this collaborative process, we will navigate those obstacles together. Sometimes having someone in your corner to help open new doors can make all the difference.

Are you having trouble adjusting to life transitions? Are you bothered that you aren't good enough? Are you concerned that having emotionally immature parents has caused you to struggle in adulthood? Your experiences with transitions could become overwhelming, causing a lack of focus, a decrease in self-esteem, and second-guessing yourself. Imagine understanding your struggle to make changes or adapt. Imagine understanding the impact of a lack of emotional maturity or intimacy. There is a way to change these patterns in your life. You can overcome the blockage and barriers of change. I primarily use Internal Family Systems and the Change Triangle . These therapies help identify the internal attachment of faulty thoughts and emotions and help to explore ways to "detach" and live your life with purpose. Over time, you can successfully change how you think and feel about yourself and the world. I can help you understand your self-capacities by offering individual, couples, and family therapy focusing on the impact life transitions may have on your present and future inner peace and happiness.

College is hard! I remember how hard it was in so many ways. I'm honored to be a support to you through this important time in your life. I specialize in anxiety. I also work on post-trauma growth for those with a history of trauma. My approach is both "bottom up" (focusing on how your body/biology is responding to stress) and "top down" (working with your thoughts and mind to better manage the way you are feeling/thinking). I am heavily influenced by my studies in mindfulness meditation and bring that approach into our work. I have a strong interest in neuroscience as well as spirituality. I like to say that my goal as a helper is not to “make you better” but to help you discover that which makes you feel more alive. Your true nature is one of wholeness, contentment, and compassion; let's get you back there.
