Looking for support, problem solving, coping skills, or an opportunity to talk through what is not working? My goal is to create a working relationship that feels comfortable and hopeful. It takes courage to share personal information with someone new. Individuals and families are facing a lot of stress and difficulties which makes psychotherapy incredibly important. My work with clients has them feeling respected and involved in their own treatment goals. The clients I serve range in age from teens through adulthood. Young adults/college age are often a large part of my practice as well. Change takes time and the therapy process is based upon trust, comfort and consistency. Progress can occur and is to be expected with shared treatment goals and ongoing communication. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions about the process or for more details about my specialities and approach to care. Let's find out if I am a good match for your needs with an initial call.

Creating change can be an uncomfortable process, and it can help to have someone accompany you on your journey to a more authentic life. I work best with adults who are ready to engage in the sometimes challenging but deeply rewarding process of personal growth and healing. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, depression, chronic health conditions, or co-occurring disorders, and are seeking meaningful change in their lives. I also have a strong understanding of the unique pressures faced by healthcare professionals and experience providing care for those involved with the Pennsylvania Nurse Peer Assistance Program (PNAP). I specialize in treating dual diagnosis and and I have specific experience working with substance use/chemical addictions and chronic health conditions. CBT and ACT are my primary modalities, however they are not the only interventions I use. Whatever interventions are used, the ideal outcome is to create sustainable, healthy change for individuals. I especially value working with individuals who are open to exploring their experiences, who may feel stuck but are willing to reflect, grow, and lean into their strengths. If you're looking for a grounded, compassionate, and collaborative space to sort through life’s complexities, we may be a good fit.

Has something happened to you past or present that was unexpected, scary, upsetting and often a source of distress and now you feel ready to work through it? Are you struggling with navigating changes or life transitions and could use somebody to talk to? No matter what is going on, it is generally helpful to talk with an unbiased person who can help you make sense of what’s going on and learn how to manage stress so that you can function more effectively and of course feel better! I have nearly 20 years experience working as a therapist, with the past eleven years working specifically in college counseling centers at both the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Maine. If you need support, please feel free to contact me and we can schedule a brief phone consultation to discuss what you are hoping to work on and also give you a chance to ask any questions you may have, together we can determine if we are a good fit.

If you have ADHD, you might feel like typical strategies just don’t work. That can be incredibly frustrating leading to more arguments, more stress, and a growing sense of overwhelm or uncertainty about the future. You may have already tried working with other providers and felt like nothing really changed. You’re looking for someone who truly understands ADHD, someone who can offer strategies that actually stick, while also holding you accountable in a supportive way. Managing ADHD is tough, but you don’t have to do it alone. I can help make the process easier. With specialized training from top ADHD clinics, I bring evidence-based strategies to help you better understand ADHD and build practical skills that support your well-being. My approach is goal-oriented and backed by research designed to give you clear, measurable progress over weeks not years. Therapy doesn’t have to be a long-term commitment. From the very beginning, we’ll work together to set clear goals and a plan to reach them. My priority is helping you gain the tools you need to thrive. And if you’re on the fence about starting, schedule a free consultation call to ensure it’s the right fit.

College can feel like a lot to carry. Classes, relationships, expectations, and trying to figure out what comes next. You might look like you’re handling things on the outside, but inside feel overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, or unsure of yourself. You may notice the same patterns showing up in relationships or feel like you’re falling behind. You are not alone, this is a very common experience. Therapy is a place to sort through what’s going on and understand why things feel this way. With over 20 years of experience, I work with students navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, academic challenges and family and relationship challenges. I offer a warm, supportive space where you can talk openly, make sense of your experiences, and start to feel steadier and more confident. Together, we’ll work on building healthier boundaries, finding clarity, and helping you move forward in a way that feels right for you. If you’d like to connect, email is the best way to reach me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Do you dread the 5:00 am clang of your alarm? Do you hit snooze one too many times and now have to scramble to get to class on time, chugging caffeine, just trying to make it through the day? You spend the evenings checked out, on the couch, mindlessly scrolling your phone, while the tv drones on in the background. You know there is more to life than this. You know there is a way to get good sleep, not survive on caffeine, and actually enjoy your evenings. Sometimes we just need a little support to get there. It’s okay to need a little help figuring out what is underneath the stress and get back to living a life you don’t want to escape. Let’s talk about how you can move from dread to joy. Contact me.

As a licensed psychologist, I work with adults and adolescents seeking personal growth and change through psychotherapy. Areas of focus within my practice include anxiety, depression, college student mental health, graduate student mental health, career planning and change, partner relationship concerns, grief and loss, life-long and acquired disability issues, and adjustment to life changes such as medical diagnoses, traumatic brain injury, relationship loss, school transition and death of a loved one. I work extensively with undergraduate students with academic and mental health concerns. Academic stress, choice of major, career direction and planning, time management, motivational difficulties, underachievement, disability adaptation needs, and relationship/family issues are common concerns brought to therapy by college-aged students. Having a safe, reliable space to explore concerns and develop solutions can enhance well-being, satisfaction and success. The academic and research responsibilities of graduate programs can be challenging to juggle. In addition, graduates school can often be an isolating time for many students. Motivation, goal clarification, stress management, school-life balance, relationships, financial concerns, and post-graduate career exploration and planning are among the many challenges graduate students face in their academic lives. Work with graduate students is an integral part of my practice.

Life often feels stressful and overwhelming and can knock us off our feet before we know it. When this happens, strong emotions can overtake us and it can feel as if there is nowhere to turn. When nothing seems to be working, having someone to express your feelings to, who listens and hears you, can feel like a breath of fresh air. I am here to validate your feelings and to allow you to make space to get the support you are looking for. I offer in person sessions in a comfortable and inviting office space. In addition, I am able to offer virtual sessions, if you would prefer this method of meeting. I meet clients where they are at currently. On our journey it can be helpful to have someone to help us see the narratives that often define our lives. Some of those narratives keep us from experiencing what we want for ourselves now and in the future. Since graduating with a Masters in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in 2010, I have been working as a therapist with people in various stages of life. A relationship between a therapist and client can provide someone with a deep reflection of how they live and are experienced. I believe therapy can give us the opportunity to rediscover our story in a new way. Real change is possible and the therapeutic relationship is one of the ways to cultivate that change. Areas of experience and interests: ADHD, adults, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, family of origin concerns, grief and loss, life transitions, mother abandonment, parenting, sexuality, sexual and physical trauma, trauma recovery Fee: I offer a sliding scale fee Insurances Accepted: United Healthcare, UPMC, Cigna, Highmark Therapeutic Style: Relational Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Trauma-Informed, Family Systems Contact Autumn directly at 412-606-1887 or autumnkrusebrownlee@gmail.com
