As a counselor, I utilize both relational and body-mind approaches. One of my preferred modalities is Somatic Experiencing, which is a therapeutic approach used to address trauma-related stress responses. I enjoy working with adult clients of all ages, backgrounds, and therapeutic goals. I have a particular interest in working with clients looking to resolve trauma, address relational or attachment issues, and to explore content around identity and sexuality. I come from a social justice and queer background. I work to provide competent and accessible services to people experiencing oppression, and likewise seek to support folks in decolonization work.

Most people who look at you might never know how much you are struggling. Your pattern of holding it all in, staying busy, or pulling away from others has worked well enough to get you through… till now. Now, it feels more like you’re caught in an endless maze of thoughts and worries, or like there’s a weighted blanket dragging you down. When anxiety or depression are present, everything in life can feel more difficult. I am a trauma-informed therapist specializing in helping you unpack those things that connect your past and present to build a more fulfilling, authentic future. I take a practical and straightforward approach to therapy and am comfortable with discomfort if it means making progress. As your therapist, I will take the time to see things from your point of view. You know your life best, so I will listen and understand. My sessions are open, honest, and thoughtful. Therapy shouldn't be another place where you have to pretend. I will work to understand the real you and use my experience to help you.
Through over 20 years of practice I have found that people usually seek therapy because they are experiencing something that is too difficult to bear without additional help and support. Life can seem unjust when bad things happen to good people, or when best efforts are not leading to desired outcomes. These challenges are opportunities for renewal and growth. Especially during a time of crisis or transition, the ability to safely connect and openly share thoughts and feelings, while receiving genuine emotional support, clarifying insights, and effective tools for coping can be truly life changing. This is the gift of therapy. I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorders (such as OCD, tic disorders, hair pulling, skin picking and hoarding). I use evidence-based treatment models (ERP, HRT, CBT and EMDR). Research tells us that the therapeutic relationship is a critical factor in determining outcomes, so finding a therapist who is right for you is key. Call for a free 15 minute phone consultation so that you can interview me and decide if I'm a good fit.

I have been a therapist for over 30 years and have focused my work around helping clients develop healthy, satisfying relationships. I find that the people I see feel isolated, disappointed, and fearful of connecting with others. My approach is psychodynamic meaning that I see current concerns as a function of past relationships with significant people in one's life.

I think that therapy doesn’t have to be complicated. As a client you can expect to highlight your strengths, speak to your individual experience in a non-judgmental environment, receive unconditional support from someone you trust, and learn new ways to lessen your pain. I specialize in self-esteem and compassion, healthy relationships, kink and poly-friendly, diet culture recovery / Health At Every Size, and spirituality. Besides these topics, I also have extensive experience in a variety of other life issues. Contact me to discuss this more; I would like to help you through your personal challenges. Making the choice to start therapy is a deeply personal one; I wholeheartedly believe in each individual’s right to choose who they bring on their journey of healing and fulfillment. I hope that I can be your guide through that process.
I specialize in helping adolescents and adults overcome the struggles of eating disorders, anxiety, depression, self-harm, and substance abuse. I help my clients learn concrete coping skills and effective ways to take control of their lives. The constant battle of obsessing over one's weight, the unrelenting state of panic and fear at times for no understood reason, and the feelings of shame and urges to self-destruct, don't have to be a part of your life. I've had the opportunity to successfully help people work through these issues and find peace and healing that they deserve. I love working with people with eating disorders because they are intelligent, kind-hearted, and often don't realize their potential and worth in the world. I understand the strength it takes to make the call to ask for help and the uncertainty that comes with starting the recovery process. After studying eating disorders and women's issues extensively and working for years at The Renfrew Center, a renowned residential eating disorder facility, I joined the Emotional Eating program at Princeton House Women's Programs. At this moment, you face one of the most important choices of your life: Is this the moment you closed your browser and settled for what you have? Or is this the moment you reached out for therapy and reclaimed your life? My approach to therapy focuses on developing a positive vision for your life. You can’t just wish for the suffering to end. You need to be bolder. What becomes possible when the suffering ends - what will it mean for you to live a good life? Many struggle with this question. They think they know what they want, but in reality they want what someone else wanted for them. That is why my approach focuses on understanding your true self - your style of perceiving your environment, interacting with the world, and making decisions. As we discover your true self, we will also work on recognizing the existential choices you face as part of the change process and identifying how you can make those choices in alignment with your core values. You have one precious, beautiful, wild life. With every passing moment, that life is getting shorter. You’ve lost too much time to suffering already. If you are ready to change, reach out to me. I am ready to walk with you every step of the way.
