Relationships are the most rewarding and often the most difficult parts of our lives. If you're struggling in your romantic relationship, friendships, family or even in your relationship with yourself...you're not alone. Negative thoughts and feelings can keep you from the life you want with the people you love. Counseling can give you the support and encouragement you need to help move forward and find new, better ways to communicate and connect. It can be difficult to know who to trust with the things you're going through. Therapy offers you a confidential, comfortable place to talk about the things in your life that are hard to share with others. Together, we can uncover your strengths and use them to create a plan to give you relief from the uncomfortable place you're in today.
Welcome! My name is "Dr. Ed." I'm a Ph.D.-Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston and Governors State. In our multicultural world, therapy is a safe place to respect your values and honor your strengths! √ I'm 4.6 rated with 60+ reviews on HealthGrades, United Health, Aetna and Cigna. My treatment philosophy is built on respect and appreciation of the dignity for each person I work with. Let me emphasize this one more time, YOU don't have to settle for a poor self-image from negative experiences nor settle with poor relationships with your family, spouse, kids and yourself. Let's figure it out..together.. My therapy specialty is working with adults, couples, families, and pre-teens who are dealing with feelings of rejection, grief, and situation anxiousness-including balancing family and work-life stressors. I greatly appreciate listening to the adult male voice in relationships and families. Learning ways to bridge the gap in communication styles between men and women, parents and children, is important work! Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a core faculty member for nine years at Capella University-graduate and doctoral programs in Social Work and Public Service Leadership. Outside of work, Dr. Ed enjoys traveling to Barbados, Cancun, Houston Rodeo, is active in the KAY fraternity, and is an Astros and Cubs fan. Behavioral medicine counseling can help with these types of pain, as well as chronic medical issues. My practice offers highly effective techniques in a supportive and compassionate style.

Trauma, Relationships, and Family Patterns — Helping You Build Healthier Connections If you’re feeling overwhelmed by past experiences, stuck in relationship patterns, or struggling with communication and connection, you’re not alone. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating trauma, family-of-origin challenges, communication difficulties, cultural differences, and life transitions—and who are ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful change. As a practicum therapist in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Abilene Christian University, I am supervised by Julia Wesley, LMFT-S, and provide therapy in the Frisco and Prosper areas. In our work together, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we focus on understanding patterns—how you communicate, how your family-of-origin experiences shape your relationships, and how past experiences may still be impacting you today. I help clients build stronger communication skills, navigate conflict more effectively, and develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I am especially passionate about working with those impacted by trauma and helping clients make sense of how their past connects to their present. My approach is grounded in family systems and relational therapy, meaning we look at how your relationships, environment, and experiences all interact. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to understand the bigger picture and create lasting change in the patterns that matter most to you. I strive to provide a culturally sensitive and inclusive space, and I am committed to supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, including those within the LGBTQ+ community. Before entering the therapy field, I worked in leadership and people management, where I developed strong skills in communication, conflict resolution, and supporting individuals through challenges. I bring that real-world experience into the therapy room to help clients apply practical tools in their daily lives. I am also passionate about supporting diverse and underserved communities. My work as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ambassador and ADHD advocate reflects my commitment to creating an inclusive, culturally aware space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood. Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to begin your healing journey or want to see if we’re a good fit, I invite you to connect.

You’re anxious and frustrated. Maybe lost, confused, and overwhelmed. My hope as your therapist is that you see hope in just visiting this page. You're done hiding, avoiding, and repressing. This is step 1 towards healing. I invite you to take a step further. Together, we will bring clarity to your situation, process unresolved emotions, and develop coping skills for enduring positive change. When you are sitting across from me, my goal is for you to feel safe, understood, and encouraged. I am here to help you unlearn thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve you—to explore and unravel unhealthy habits, toxic ways of interacting with others, and harmful statements you unconsciously rehearse when you’re feeling your absolute worst. I focus on your strengths and take into account your family dynamics, how you were raised, and any trauma you have experienced. In session with me, you can expect me to ask you how you deal with negative emotions. I also want to know about your relationships, culture, and community. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Harvard College. To set up a free 15-minute consultation, please visit www.jackieleecounseling.com

Do you ever feel like your mind just won’t turn off—replaying conversations, worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet, and finding it impossible to relax? Many of the people I work with experience these same struggles. They often share that they feel exhausted, disconnected, and like their lives lack meaning as they work tirelessly to keep it together on the outside. Anxiety, depression, and trauma can quietly weave their way into our lives and, if left unchecked, can take control and lead us into a downward spiral. Let me help you lighten the weight of these burdens and begin healing together.
Since 2006, I have worked as a counselor in Louisiana (LPC 3780), Kansas (LCPC 2416), Virginia (LPC 0701008990), and Texas (LPC 86508). I specialize in working with diverse clients, including military families, trauma survivors, those managing both mental health, and substance use. My humanistic, collaborative style helps you uncover strengths, build resilience, and develop practical tools. Together, we’ll create space for healing and real change. I know reaching out takes courage and you don’t have to do it alone. In our work, we’ll honor your unique experiences and create a safe space to explore challenges at your pace. College is supposed to be exciting, full of possibility and growth, but it can also feel overwhelming, lonely, and uncertain in ways no one really prepares you for. The pressure to succeed and have everything figured out, adds up. If you’ve been carrying more than you can hold on your own, you don’t have to keep doing it alone. Reaching out doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It means you’re human—and you deserve support, understanding, and a space where you can finally exhale.
I work best with students who are thoughtful, curious, and sometimes overwhelmed by school, relationships, or figuring out who they are. You might be feeling anxious, stuck, or just tired of trying to handle everything alone. This is a space to talk openly, feel heard, and sort through what’s on your mind. We’ll go at your pace, and I’ll meet you with honesty and care. If that sounds like what you need, you're in the right place.
My ideal client is someone navigating a significant life transition—whether it’s entering a new phase of life, adjusting to a career shift, or healing after the end of a relationship, or starting a new one. They may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from themselves and others. They often appear high-functioning on the outside but internally struggle with self-doubt, perfectionism, or emotional exhaustion. Their needs often include learning how to manage stress, set healthy boundaries, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen relationships. I have 13 years of experience and am licensed in three states. My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion, presence, and collaboration. I draw primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based practices to help clients build psychological flexibility, develop deeper self-awareness, and move toward a more values-driven life. I believe that healing begins in the context of a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Therapy is a shared process, and I deeply respect the courage it takes to show up and be vulnerable. My role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance and insight.
