Great to meet you! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in the treatment of depression, anxiety, addictive patterns, grief/loss, and stress management. My focus is on practical, mindfulness-based approaches. I studied Communications and later received a master's degree in Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling. I have worked in various settings providing individualized counseling services to adults and young adults with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and interpersonal challenges. My style of therapy is warm, nonjudgmental, and interactive. While I focus on mindfulness-based techniques and cognitive behavioral therapy, I also incorporate other forms of therapy tailored to meet the unique needs of each of my clients. Together, we will take a closer look at your behavioral and relational patterns, discovering how previous events and experiences impact your current functioning. I offer a safe, collaborative space to explore your thoughts, behaviors and feelings. My clients leave the session feeling seen, heard, supported and empowered.
You struggle to connect with your authentic self as you navigate life’s transitions and their impact on your identity and relationships. You notice yourself falling into the same patterns that leave you feeling even more disconnected and overwhelmed. Together, we will explore the stories that shape your inner world. When everything starts to feel like too much, I want you to feel grounded in who you are. My name is Sam, and I believe you deserve to be yourself unapologetically. Finding a balance between honoring your needs, reconciling the past, and fostering relationships is challenging, but you don't have to face it alone. Counseling is a vehicle for promoting holistic health, and you get to decide what wellness looks like for you during our time together. I enjoy using a person-centered therapeutic approach that incorporates theories and interventions from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Tiffany is a native of Mississippi graduating from the prestigious Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. She spent her summers in the mountains of North Carolina during undergraduate and graduate schools and eventually found her way back to North Carolina full time. Tiffany graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Regent University. Tiffany has been providing counseling services since 2012 and Neurofeedback services since 2014. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. Tiffany is one of only three clinicians in North Carolina's Piedmont Triad Region who is Board Certified in Neurofeedback from The Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) and a certified mentor for the BCIA board certification process helping train other practitioners to become board certified in neurofeedback. Tiffany is a the only clinician in the region who has the Quantitative EEG-Diplomate Licensed (QEEG-DL) certification from the QEEG Certification Board. She is certified in HeartMath and serves as adjunct faculty at Wake Forest University in the graduate counseling program. Tiffany has received didactic training to read QEEG brain maps and administer scientifically based neurofeedback training from her mentor, Robert E. Longo, MRC, LCMHC, BCN; Richard Soutar, PhD, BCN (Alpha Theta Training); Tiff Thompson, PhD, MFT, BCN, QEEGDL, REEGT (QEEG Training), and Sebern Fisher (Neurofeedback and Developmental Trauma). Click here to listen to Tiffany’s talk on Developmental Trauma. When Tiffany began her career, she used more well-known techniques, like cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy, but it wasn’t long before she became increasingly aware that the mental health field needed alternatives. Neurofeedback takes advantage of the brain's ability to change itself allowing a person of any age to make changes in behavior and thinking patterns more easily. Using a combination of counseling and Neurofeedback, Tiffany began to see more substantial changes in her client's lives. Currently, Tiffany utilizes Neurofeedback and Heart Rate Variability in combination with traditional counseling. Click here to read Tiffany’s article on the popular Blog—Triad Mom’s on Main. Tiffany works with a variety of clientele utilizing a person-centered approach, which means sessions will start with you and your needs. Together, we will explore the issues that you bring to counseling in a holistic way with emphasis on emotional and personal history perspectives. Tiffany‘s experience has allowed her to work closely with many children, teenagers, and adults of different needs and backgrounds where she brings enthusiasm, compassion and cross-cultural understanding to her work towards healing and wholeness.
Getting started can be overwhelming. My goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible so we can go at your pace. I specialize in working with clients with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and addiction. Many of my clients have tried to cope with difficult life changes by pushing their feelings away or finding short-term coping mechanisms that serve as a distraction. My role is to help people listen to and manage their emotions without feeling overwhelmed or ruled by them. Being personally in recovery from alcohol helps me understand and empathize with what you’re going through because I’ve probably been there too. I like to break down clinical approaches to collaboratively determine the best fit for each person’s unique goals. I incorporate elements of neurobiology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and schema work to help people better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. If you're not sure what you're looking for yet, that's okay! Feel free to reach out to set up an introductory phone call to see if we're a good fit.
Many of the clients I work with share a deep sense of responsibility for others and struggle to feel permission to rest, take up space, or express their own needs. They’re often self-aware and thoughtful but find themselves stuck in old patterns of people-pleasing, over-functioning, or self-criticism. My clients are usually seeking relief from anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and disconnection from self, longing instead for steadiness, self-trust, and relationships that feel mutual and safe.

Many of the students I work with are bright, capable, and hardworking—but still feel overwhelmed, distracted, anxious, or like they’re constantly falling behind. I specialize in working with college students struggling with ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and relationship stress. Together we focus on understanding how your brain works, improving emotional regulation, building better habits, and reducing shame or self-criticism. My approach is supportive, collaborative, and practical. I integrate CBT, DBT, ACT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and the Gottman Method for couples. I have over 10 years of experience working with college students and young adults navigating stress, identity, relationships, and life transitions.
We specialize in working with folks in times of transition. Adjusting to changes in your life can be incredibly challenging. We can help you use the challenges that you face to propel you towards your preferred future. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, eating issues or adjusting to a new place in your life, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow. Whether you are looking to pull yourself out of a deep hole, or are experiencing transition and new life changes that are scary and challenging, or if you simply see where you want to be and need a little help to launch to that next level, you are in the right place.
I am passionate about walking alongside people in healing journeys towards transformation and wholeness. I specialize in walking with people through healing from trauma, (both recent and childhood) and also enjoy assisting clients in finding healthy tools for living with and reducing experiences of anxiety, adhd, ocd and life stressors so that you can live your best life to the fullest! I also offer Christ centered counseling for those who desire that.
College can bring a lot: new freedom, pressure to succeed, and the stress of figuring out who you are and where you are headed. Many of the students I work with feel weighed down by anxiety, burnout, overthinking, imposter syndrome, or the pressure to be perfect. Others are coping with ADHD, past/current trauma, anxiety and social anxiety or just the everyday stress of classes, relationships, and big transitions. With 12 years of experience working in university counseling centers, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges of college and graduate students' lives. In our work together, you will find a supportive space to talk honestly about what is on your mind, learn coping tools to manage stress, and feel more grounded and confident. My goal is to help you feel less alone and more able to handle the challenges of college life.
I believe in healing through corrective experiences. It is possible to heal from trauma & anxiety, rather than just learning coping with it! I prefer to use methods that are designed to alleviate the distress associated with painful memories. This includes Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and other Experiential Therapy modalities that are proven to be equally as effective in a virtual setting.
Present. Calm. Centered. Your authentic YOU. These are the things you may be longing for yet sometimes feel out of reach. Life can bring about storms and seasons of hardship that leave their mark on our human spirits. Sometimes we can find our center, yet other times we may feel lost in the seas of emotions - worries and anxieties that sweep us from our connections to ourselves and those we care about. Maybe you experienced painful moments in your youth or adult life that you just can’t find a way to shake. Or maybe you find yourself caught in certain patterns of responses despite knowing you value interacting with yourself or others differently. Maybe you hope to gain more confidence in yourself to follow your dreams. I am deeply honored to explore these thoughts, feelings, and experiences with you, so that you can draw new connections to live the life you want to lead. I work with adult individuals (18 years and up) and have experience with a variety of different presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and addictions. I offer a nurturing person-centered approach where I believe you are truly the expert in your own life. My aim is to use my professional training to collaborate with you on reaching your goals. I use a variety of counseling approaches including motivational interviewing, mindfulness, CBT and brainspotting. With this, I often interweave somatic/body based awareness, emotional attunement and cognitive aspects into the work we engage in together. I also recognize the decision to choose to start counseling can be a vulnerable and difficult one. I believe a strong therapeutic alliance is the most important aspect for supporting therapy outcomes (research supports this too!). I aim to create an environment with elements of empathy, non-judgment, compassion and humor. And if you wind up finding my therapeutic style is not the best fit for your needs, I am glad to support you in getting connected with another therapist.
