As your therapist I can help you find solutions to what has been holding you back, make meaning in your life, and co-create a future that helps you thrive! The decision to start therapy is a courageous one. I create an open and safe environment for you to embark on your therapeutic journey. In my practice I take a strength-based approach to help you learn and grow. I am interested in exploring who you are as an individual and helping you get where you want to be. Together I hope to build a respectful and collaborative therapeutic alliance. I have experience working with individuals with depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I specialize with working with young adults dealing with life transitions. I have experience working in the university and hospital setting. I have an interest in working with young adults, college students, and adults. I use both CBT and DBT in my practice. My colleagues would describe me to have a calming presence and open mind. I look forward to meeting you and working together.

Life can feel overwhelming. You might be carrying past trauma, facing anxiety that won’t ease, or navigating a lingering sadness. Maybe you’re exploring how your identity has been shaped by culture, history, or generational pain—and you’re ready to reclaim your voice. Whatever brings you here, I want you to know: reaching out is a powerful first step. As a therapist with over a decade of experience, I create a trauma-informed space where you feel seen and supported. Together, we’ll face the hard stuff while making room for healing, hope, and growth. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, identity, and life transitions. My approach is rooted in decolonizing therapy—honoring how colonization, systemic oppression, and cultural narratives impact mental health. We’ll gently examine and unlearn internalized beliefs, reconnect with your resilience, and center your wisdom. This work isn’t just about surviving—it’s about liberation. I believe in the power of healing, especially in the face of profound pain. Therapy for me is about coming home to yourself—finding strength, wholeness, and meaning. If you're seeking someone who deeply listens, understands your complexity, and honors your story, I’d be honored to share this space.

Welcome to Saltmarsh Counseling! As a native of the area and lover of the everything coastal, I relate therapy to the salt marsh. Many are not aware of the essential role the salt marsh plays and the wealth of benefits it provides. A few important attributes include maintaining healthy water quality and reducing pollution by acting as a filter, protecting us from flooding and erosion by creating a buffer to protect from storm surge, and providing a nursery and safe haven for commercial and recreational fisheries. Like the salt marsh, therapy acts as a filter for individuals working through the challenging aspects of mental illness, relationships, and life transitions. The therapeutic setting provides a safe space to be vulnerable, to learn healthy coping skills, to gain self-awareness, and to evolve as a person.

It could be that you feel like things in your life are just out of alignment. If any of this sounds familiar, let's chat to see how we can help you gain the tools you need to restore balance to your life.

My clients are exhausted and overwhelmed like you. They are tired of doing their best to keep all these balls (school, work, parenting, relationships, self-care, health and wellbeing, sleep + more) up in the air (even though admittedly they are pretty darn good at it). But when they inevitably drop a few because something else pops up or they get tired, life feels messy and they are quick to place judgements on themselves. My clients are expert problem solvers and doers, who in the face of stress, just keep going. Some are the type of person who the people in their life lean on for support. Some have tried a number of ways to fix or problem solve their way our of their emotions or exhaustion. They find their coping to work for a little bit but aren't moving them towards the life they imagined for themselves. Some realize they aren't sure they can keep up with all of what needs to be done to feel "okay". When some of my clients do take time for themselves or the rest they need, their mind struggles with feeling guilty, worrying about what they "should" be doing for work/school/person (fill in the blank with any responsibility). Like my clients, you deserve to find ease and connection in your body without a to-do list flowing through your head or scanning your body for what’s wrong now. Not being defined or consumed by your productivity is not out of your reach. I'd love to help you get there. Contact me today for a free consultation.

Accepting New Clients! Congratulations on taking the first step in choosing a therapist. Do you need someone to listen without judgment? A safe place to share your thoughts and feelings and to get out of that "stuck space" by considering solutions to improve your overall wellbeing? I would enjoy beginning this journey with you by establishing a warm, supportive, and trusting relationship through open and non-judgmental communication. At heart, I am a helper, encourager, and challenger who believes in people. My theoretical approach involves integrating Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior-Informed Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Working together you will increase knowledge and awareness and create action steps that may help ease stress and anxiety, navigate life transitions, and work through school, career, and relationship concerns. Our work together will always support my belief in the strengths of the client and the value of your role in the therapeutic process. In sessions, you can expect a compassionate, direct, and collaborative approach. Feel free to reach out with questions about counseling in general or next steps to get started. Best wishes on your wellness journey!

Anxiety doesn't have to run your life. You can find joy again. On the surface, things are still looking great. You appear to “have it all”, but, on the inside, things are falling apart. You feel stressed, overwhelmed and out of control. It doesn’t have to be like this, and I can show you another way. I help driven people just like you manage their anxiety, stress and irritable bowel syndrome. You can gain stability and finally enjoy your success. If you are ready to do the hard work of changing your life, I’d love to talk to you.

Healing happens when we feel safe enough to show up exactly as we are. All parts of you are welcome here. I’m not here to change you or fix you. I don’t think you are “broken” or that there's anything "wrong" with you. Together we'll create an accepting + compassionate environment, with respect for your intuition + body's wisdom underlying all that we do. I’m trauma + social justice-informed and view therapy through an intersectional lens (mind, body, environment, culture). During our time together, we’ll likely look at environmental factors (interpersonal, economic, oppression) that create individual/collective stress and trauma. I value equity, consent and boundaries in the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a space that is safe, non-judgmental and accepting. My approach is collaborative + holistic, centering around values of⁣ empathy, connection and deep listening. I’m Internal Family Systems-informed and incorporate somatic + mindfulness-based approaches into sessions. I provide an Autism-affirming perspective in therapy and believe Autism is a genetically-based neurotype, not a medical disorder. "I understand being autistic to be a cultural identity and recognize autistic people as experts on their own culture." (quote from Trauma Geek). Please visit my website for more information. Warmly, River (they/she)

Through working with me, clients enhance their emotion regulation, establish new effective coping skills, and heal past trauma. LQBGTIA+ issues, recovery maintenance, anxiety and depression are common reason people seek treatment with me. My focus is to help individuals heal and progress through identifying their inner strengths. This is accomplished by providing an open space to hear your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. I am also a LGBTQIA+ allied therapist so I strive to provide a safe and supportive environment to everyone who comes to see me.
