Therapists for college students near University of Pittsburgh
[ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS FOR WEDNESDAYS, SATURDAYS, AND SUNDAYS] [NOTE: I cannot accent clients who attend the University of Pittsburgh due to a conflict of interest] My mission is to join with others in pursuit of healing, empowerment, and liberation. Those who work with me are often exploring issues of gender, sexuality, and race; privilege, marginalization, and systemic oppression; complex trauma; and relationships. We often focus on alleviating the anxiety, depression, and disconnection from self and others that can come with these experiences. Together, we work towards building self-understanding so you can make decisions about your life and relationships with awareness and intention. I am a queer, agender, social justice-focused and relationally-oriented therapist. Central to my approach is curiosity about the cultural systems and personal relationships that shape your experience. I also have experience integrating tarot, ritual, and dream work as therapeutic tools. I am happy to incorporate your personal healing practices into our work. The relationship we build is our greatest tool for healing. I approach therapy as a collaborator, and work with clients to create a relationship characterized by trust, safety, authenticity, vulnerability, and warmth, humility, and genuine care. We can dream up what healing looks like and strive towards it together.
I provide services to people with a broad spectrum of problems. My areas of specialty are trauma, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, or long-term ways of relating to self and others that do not seem to be working well.

My counseling philosophy is grounded in trauma-informed practices, meaning I value collaboration, empowerment, and emotional and physical safety above all else. In time, clients will gain a richer understanding of themselves while working towards self-determined goals. I am especially attuned to those experiencing LGBT issues, trauma, and depression, as well as various non-monogamous relationships and organizing for social justice. As a social worker and through lived experience, I am highly aware of the daily social, institutional, and communal injustices that impact different historically oppressed people. To supplement a trauma-informed practice, I utilize CBT, Brainspotting, ACT, DBT, narrative, and solution-focused therapies when supporting a client. For those working towards understanding unconscious bias based on race, ability, class, or creed, I take an antiracist, intersectional, and systems approach to foster growth and accompliceship development. Reaching out to a new therapist can feel overwhelming and intimidating. I want to recognize the courage you have to start this journey and encourage you to take the next step. When you're ready, contact me and I'll get back to you shortly. For the fastest response, please contact me through email.
Welcome! I am honored to help you take the next step of your journey. I am interested and curious about your needs and areas of concern. We will create a treatment plan reflective of your current stage of growth. Through an empowering relationship, my hope is to help you gain self-acceptance and clarity about your life situation. I will integrate aspects of interpersonal, feminist, and acceptance commitment therapy. Through these approaches, you will feel more capable of managing your life and to develop flexibility for life’s challenges and openness to the person who you are today. I enjoy working with individuals who are interested in promoting well-being in themselves and in relation to others. Mindfulness instruction is available as a key component of my therapy should this focus be desired. Studies have shown that a regular practice of mindfulness supports an enriched experience of life, feelings of well being, better ability to cope with stress and pain, reduced panic, anxiety, and fear and better concentration. While my private practice setting is refreshing and tranquil with views of trees and birds, I currently only offer tele-health, accessible from the comfort of your own home or office. This work has been highly successful and rewarding. I am a warm and caring professional who spends the time required with each client.
